Quality preschool helps young children learn and grow. Kids who attend good preschool programs are less likely to be arrested, more likely to graduate from high school, and less likely to struggle with substance abuse as adults. However, preschool is not guaranteed to be free or high quality in the United States. Not everyone can afford to send their children to preschool. Public preschool would allow all families to send their child to school before kindergarten.
