Open hiring is when a company does not make applicants submit a resume or have an interview. Applicants are not asked about employment or criminal history. The first person to apply is hired for the job. People learn skills while on the job, instead of having them before starting. This helps people with little to no education or work experience and people who have been in prison. The government encourage open hiring practices by giving benefits such as tax credits and other forms of support. Businesses may also choose to do this without any perks because it is faster. It can also lead to lower turnover and positive company culture.
